Dr Mandal has done his undergraduate studies in Applied Mathematics from the University of Calcutta and received the Doctoral Degree in Dynamical System & Nonlinear Dynamics from the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Kolkata. He has taught at several institutes such as the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Sikkim, Birla Institute of Technology & Science Pilani, Goa Campus etc. before joining the Department of Science & Technology under the Ministry of Science & Technology, Govt of India. Dr Mandal has published several sole-authored research articles in various international reputable journals. Presently he is working as a Scientist-C in the Autonomous Institution Division of the Department of Science and Technology, Govt. of India. He is mainly looking after the science administration of several R & D institutions under the Ministry of Science & Technology, Govt. of India.
