Gomez, Mr Dario Ruben

Darío Gómez is a consulting researcher at Argentina’s Atomic Energy Commission, where he worked from 1984 to 2022. He is a member of Argentina’s National Academies of Engineering and Exact, Physical, and Natural Sciences. Gómez has collaborated extensively with the UNFCCC since 2003, participating in 20 technical reviews of national greenhouse gas inventories (GHGI) submitted by Annex I Parties and co-authoring over 60 review reports. He also developed and instructed training programs for expert reviewers under the Convention and the Paris Agreement Enhanced Transparency Framework. Additionally, Gómez has made significant contributions to the IPCC as an editorial board member and co-chair of its Emission Factor Database (2014–2017), lead author of key reports, and review editor of the 2019 Refinement to the 2006 IPCC Guidelines. His research focuses on air pollution assessment and greenhouse gas mitigation, with over 90 peer-reviewed publications. As consultant, he has worked on quality assurance of the GHGI and energy information management system of several countries in Latin America and Africa. He has played a crucial role in technical assistance for atmospheric pollution control and GHG estimation in Argentina, working alongside international organizations to enhance transparency and accuracy in emissions reporting while advancing climate policy initiatives.
